Penn to head Cannes Film Festival Jury
It has been announced that actor and director Sean William Penn will head the jury at this year's Cannes Moving picture Festival.
In the festival statement announcing his appointment, the 'Into the Wild' theater director said: "It seems there has been a rejuvenation of cinema building worldwide; increasingly thoughtful, provocative, moving, and imaginative films by talented filmmakers: that a fresh multiplication of filmmaking may have begun."
He added: "The Cannes Cinema Festival has long been the epicentre in the discovery of those freshly waves of filmmakers from wholly over the globe. I very much look ahead to participating in this year's festival as president of the jury."
